Didn't We 03:41
We could have made it if we tried But did we? Every poem and song dont rhyme But did we Try too hard with each second line Why does Sinatra change the lyric. Why does Streisand change the melody. Why does Harris kill the ending. Why does Campbell change the phrasing Of 'Didnt We' If the piece you have dont fit Dont blame me If we both changed a little bit Did we Try build something too high to climb Why does Sinatra change the lyric. Why does Streisand change the melody. Why does Harris kill the ending. Why does Campbell change the phrasing Of 'Didn't We' Didnt ye mess up something good? Didnt we mess up something good? You said let's take a trip But did we Know that there would be an eclipse Did we Try reach something hidden from our eyes Change the lyric, change the ending Do you want to change the meaning of it change the melody. Change the phrasing make the song all about how you sing Didnt ye mess up something good? Didnt we mess up something good?

Your head can spin Your heart can try But the bags under your eyes can’t lie We can’t begin Til you let me in To see what the backs of your eyes have seen And every thing moves too slow But everything’s still too strong Honey, hurry home My heart can ache But your sorrow is black Like the water in an underground lake The earth is dry The sky needs to rain But the cloud Cover cant break And every thing moves too slow but everything’s still too strong honey, hurry home Sometimes I don’t hate myself Sometimes I feel that less Every book I read just lets Me become someone else And every thing moves too slow but everything’s still too strong honey, hurry home My head can spin My heart can try But the bags under my eyes can’t lie We can’t begin Til I let you in To see what the backs of my eyes have seen And every thing moves too slow but everything’s still too strong honey, hurry home And every thing moves too slow but everything’s still too strong Are you coming home

about

This is a SINGLE . Written by Cormac O'Caoimh & Lindy Morrison

Lindy describes it better than I can

"I’ve loved Jimmy Webb’s songs forever. “Didn’t we” is just one of his many great tunes. It is poignant and lovely and as one spending a life sliding, slipping and watching, it means a lot.  I was thrilled when Cormac contacted me about my FB post, that came about after listening to many versions of the song and comparing those to Jimmy’s. This Cormac/ Lindy song was only finished in September this year, and I was reflecting on how idiotic, funny, dramatic it is, that a small inexplicable event can occur that destroys a moment. Cormac helped to capture that in this song."

But it also has a bonus track B-side (Too Slow Too Strong) , another co-write with a legend, Seán Millar

There is also a bonus video of the B-side included.

A colour .. a rich mahogany warm and beautiful
